Summary: If there was one thing Yuu Kaitou hated, it was the color red.
Author's Notes: Just a drabble where one genius is musing on his inability to defeat his rival.

If there was one thing Yuu Kaitou hated, it was the color red, but not just any shade. Ho, he hated the bright ruby red that was almost the same shade as freshly spilled blood. When a few people had asked why Kaitou hated that shade, he had replied with a perfectly logical explanation centered around his dislike for violence, but four people knew the real reason for his hatred, because one was the cause.

Shuichi Minamino, the star pupil of the school, a plant manipulator of incredible skill, and known to his friends and the few enemies left alive as Youko Kurama. He was the only one who could beat Kaitou academically, no matter how hard the young teen studied, and it rankled that someone with Kaitou’s intellect was shoved to second place as everyone cooed and fell all over themselves to treat Kurama like royalty while he was only given a passing glance and a “Better luck next time”.

But someday, he would win. He would beat Shuichi Minamino, Youko Kurama, and perhaps he’d have the chance to see if Shuichi’s soul was as red as his hair. And then he would never have to see that shade of red again.
